Phantom Blade Zero Exploration & Side Quest Guide

A blocked route may require a later tool rather than better jumping. Track the obstacle, follow unfinished stories, and distinguish exploration rewards from a complete ending checklist.

Evidence checked 2026-10-27. Based on official statements and named media play sessions; this site has not played the retail build. Practice plans and comparison checklists are editorial recommendations.

How do you deal with an inaccessible path?

The director explains that some weapons or tools open obstacles in earlier areas; 4Gamers reports this structure in its completed PC playthrough. Our advice is to record the location and obstacle type, then reconsider it when a new tool arrives. This is not proof that every locked door is tool-based.[1][2]

What are bells useful for?

4Gamers describes bells as recovery and fast-travel points that also reveal the local map. Use that named review as the evidence for these functions, rather than assuming every bonfire rule from another game applies here.[2]

Can side quests be safely ignored until the end?

S-GAME says side quests can open story branches; 4Gamers links them with endings and rewards. That is a reason to review unfinished stories as you progress, not a verified list of irreversible deadlines. We do not yet have a complete quest-by-quest lockout chart.[3][2]

What should your exploration notes contain?

GamesRadar+ connects Memory Flowers with health and skill progression, so they deserve attention rather than being dismissed as optional dialogue. Exact locations and complete counts remain outside this guide. Use the following editorial checklist for your own records.[4]

  1. Area and nearest known landmark; avoid relying only on a screenshot.
  2. Obstacle wording or visible prompt; separate observation from your guess.
  3. Unfinished conversation or quest clue, and what changed after the last main objective.
  4. New tool, ability or upgrade that might justify revisiting a recorded obstacle.
